The regular meeting of the AMERICAN LEGION POST 1919 was called to order at 1900 hrs. on 13 June 2023 by Adjutant Michael Harris.

• Post Elections
• Dexter Albright listed the Officer Positions to be nominated and voted on and introduced the election committee that will tally votes in the case that ballot vote will be taken for any elected position.
• The following persons will fill the corresponding office and will serve in this office for the 2023 – 2024 year.

Good of the Legion

• Mike Delany – Post cooler quit. Replacement cost is $2500. Continue discussion at next meeting.
• Poker on Saturday will go to $40 buy in with cash games.
• AL has had a 20+ increase in membership. Need to get more members to attend meetings.
• After elections, volunteers will need to help fill a few of the appointment positions. Chaplain, Judge Advocate, Service Officer, etc.

Post Elections will be held 9 May 2023. Emails have been sent to the membership to as for nominations. All members are encouraged to attend.

Normal business will be suspended on 9 May to accomplish nominations.

  • May district meeting in Mooresville for district planning and post everlasting.
  • Close of books for post is June.
  • Dexter Albright, owner of ABC Pro, won the Business of the Year Award from Department. He will now be nominated at the National Level.
  • Nominations discussion. Dexter reviewed the list of officers to be nominated.
  • Dave Everret nominated Ted McDonald as Sgt. of Arms. Ted accepted nomination.

Committee Members formed at the meeting will be:

An email will be sent out to Post Membership reminding them of the election meeting in May and solicitation of Officer nominations.

  • Legacy Foundation – Set up to continue Legion programs.
  • Childrens Hospital donations. Goal for the post is $300.
    • Donation bucket is set up by the bar entrance. Due 1 July.
  • Recommend 10yr membership. Yearly dues will increase 2025.

  • Presented 100% Membership Flag to Post Adjutant Michael Harris.
  • District Fire, Police, EMT award nominations. 3 so far from 7^th
  • Cadet Law Enforcement information if interested.
  • Gaming Commission will be at the VFW 18 March if anyone interested. Topic is charitable gaming.
  • Post 1919 data form due to state by 15 April.

  • Spring Conference at Shadeland Marriott on 14/15 April,

• Korean War POW Sgt. Charles Garrigus from Indiana. His remains have been returned to the United States.
